Sean Wernert, Director

  • Provide administrative leadership, coordination, and supervision for the following areas: 
    • Exploratory Studies Advising 
    • Health Professions Advising 
  • Advising Training & Professional Development (inclusive of training, professional development, advisor communication, and advising technology for the ASC/Advisor network) 
  • Work primarily with CSU technology staff, and vendors such as EAB Navigate to implement and enhance advising technology tools
  • Compile and share advising assessment reports for the ASC/Advisor network inclusive of Advisor reports, communication data, appointment data, and unit reports
  • Provide leadership of the ASC/Advising Network by collecting and responding to input and feedback from advising committees.
  • Collaborate with the Career Center (and other campus stakeholders) to more fully integrate academic and career advising
  • Act as the liaison for ASC/Adviser Input and Feedback to the UCAA and College /Dept Coordinator groups, member of the University Committee for Academic Advising, Advising College/Dept. Coordinator, and technology committees member  

Advising Training & Professional Development, Student Achievement

  • Focus on areas of communication, training, professional development, and advising technology support 
  • Coordinate the ASC/Advisor training and professional development program focusing on members of the Advising Network 
  • implement and enhance the use of the Navigate platform and other advising technology tools. 
  • Serve as the central contact for communication to the ASC/Advisor Network and other advising groups  
  • Consult with the Advising College/Dept. Coordinators and the ASC/Advisor Planning Committee to develop the ASC/Advisor Network Meetings, training and professional development sessions, and Retreats  
  • Facilitate the ASC & Advisor Network meetings to align with goals and action plans  
  • Consulting with advising network n training, professional development and communication.  
  •  Member of the University Committee on Academic Advising, and Advising College/Dept. Coordinator group 

Associate Director for Outreach and Support

  • Implement university-wide early warning and intervention initiatives to proactively support academic success such as Early Warning (Early Performance Feedback, Student Progress Reports, Mid Semester Courses, Taking Stock, Probation Student initiatives), Students with Recommended Support outreach, and academic coaching   
  • Facilitate strategic student outreach to identified student populations with the advising network in collaboration with campus partners such as Housing, Registrar, SDPS, Community for Excellence, and Key Communities. 
  • Engage with colleges and departments for strategic planning and visioning discussions regarding use of university tools for outreach and early intervention initiatives and share reports. 
  • Provide expertise to the advising community about CSU academic policies, represent Student Achievement in policy discussions, and provide administrative support for Committee on Scholastic Standards 
  • Explore and collaborate on new strategic interventions with colleges and departments. 
  • Work with Institutional Research to provide assessment of university wide advising effort 
  • Facilitate advisor on-boarding and training efforts related to academic policies and outreach offered through Advising Foundations Training 
  • Chair the Probation Outreach Committee and Student Progress Report Committee and co-chair the Taking Stock Visioning Committee and U-Turn Planning Committee, Member of University Committee on Academic Advising, Advising College/Dept. Coordinators 
  • Oversee Outreach and Support Unit 
  • Collegiate Success Coach
