DAY 1 | Tuesday, September 23
Grow: CSU Systemwide Advisor Development Program
Grow is a strategic professional development initiative supported by the SCALED grant (Student-Centered Advising for Learning, Equity and Development). This multi-year, competency-based program is designed to enhance the skills and impact of academic advisors across the CSU system. Through structured learning experiences and hands-on skill-building, participants will deepen their understanding of evidence-based advising practices and gain practical tools to foster meaningful, sustained student success. This session introduces the Grow framework and highlights how it supports advisors in their ongoing professional growth and commitment to student success.
Meet and Greet for New Advisors
In-person event: Join us for an engaging and welcoming session designed to introduce our new advisors (1-3 Years) to the team and the organization. This meet and greet is an excellent opportunity for new advisors to connect with their colleagues and gain insights about University-wide Advising & Leadership.
Student Success Tool: Staff DARS Training
The basics of the Degree Progress Audits: Tips and tricks, re-evaluations/substitution/appeal, graduation contracts, anything else you would like to know!
Information Literacy Skills and Student Success
In this session, I will discuss the connection between student success and information literacy/research skills and share new library tools to support students. I will share evidence that connects student success to specific factors, including information literacy education, use of library spaces/materials, and use of online library resources. I will demonstrate how to access the most essential library tools, as well as ways to get help and support through the library. This presentation will focus on tools that will be most approachable and useful for students, including our peer research mentor program and new online tutorials. The goal for this session will be to prepare advisors to guide students to available research support systems, thereby encouraging success in individual courses, academic and professional careers, and personal exploration and lifelong learning. Time permitting, I will also lead a discussion about the best ways to promote these resources and identify specific student research needs.
Summer Session: Updates and Advising Strategies
Advisors are often the first and most trusted source of information for students considering summer enrollment. This brief session offers early updates on Summer Session 2026—including key dates, policies, financial opportunities, and available resources—just in time for fall and summer schedule planning. Advisors will also receive a practical framework to help guide students in making intentional summer choices that support academic progress, exploration, and overall success.
Tour de Case Studies: How institutions leveraged Navigate 360 for increased return on education
Description: In this session, learn how four institutions have utilized Navigate360 to Coordinating Student Interventions, Engaging Students with Student-Facing Technology, Leverage Data-Driven Insights, and Transform Academic Advising. Featured schools are Virginia Commonwealth University, Waverton State University, Georgia State University, University of South Carolina, and Colorado State University.

Working with First Gen Students
In today’s educational landscape, creating spaces where students- especially first-generation students- feel seen, valued, and supported is critical. This session invites participants to explore practical, dignity-centered strategies for fostering belonging and authentic connection in their daily interactions with students. Grounded in frameworks like Yosso’s Cultural Wealth Model, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, Validation Theory, and the 10 Elements of Dignity, we’ll reflect on our own experiences of belonging, build empathy through real-world case studies, and co-create sustainable practices that not only uplift students but also support staff well-being.
Cultural Resource Center: Services & Support
Learn about the seven Cultural Resource Centers, including our services, purpose, and ways we are proud to support all students. We will have a dynamic discussion highlighting intersectional experiences of students, while exploring ways to support all students we get to serve.
Health Profession Advising

Do you know all the ways students can find academic support outside the classroom? Join TILT (The Institute for Learning and Teaching) to learn about ways you can help connect students with campus resources, like tutoring, as well as brush up on general principles on the science of learning and study skills.

CSU Health Network
Advisors are a critical touchpoint for students, especially those struggling with their wellbeing. This session seeks to equip you with the most up-to-date resources and information related to supporting students, including CSU Health Network Mental Health Services and digital tools like YOU@CSU.
User Experience : Navigate 360
In this session, we will discuss the Automations feature in Navigate and how it may be useful for your own practice. Our focus will be using the Advanced Search and Student List functionalities to provide examples of how automation can be constructed and utilized in advising outreach. We believe that using these tools in Navigate360 can assist in the strategic caseload management for advisors, provide timely information to students to support their student success, and more!
